‘Amateras’
annual exhibition/competition
for paper art 2021

On the 10th June 2021 from 18:00h. we are inviting you to the opening event of the 13th international edition of the exhibition/competition for paper art – Amateras! The concept of the competition since its beginning back in 2009 focused mainly on small paper formats, now has drastically shifted to bigger installations due to the spaces provided by the National Palace of Culture. The works of 60 artists from all ages, coming from 23 different countries, will fill up the beautiful and spacious interior of the National Palace of Culture creating the sense of monumentality and brightness.


The event is part of the Spring panel of the Sofia Paper Art Fest 2021included in the Cultural Calendar of Sofia Municipality for 2021.
For the fourth consecutive year Sofia Paper Art Fest visits the National Palace of Culture with Amateras – annual exhibition/contest for paper art.


Almost all of the contestants are members of the International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists (IAPMA), a long-term partner of ‘Amateras’ Foundation on various projects. IAPMA supports Bulgaria by presenting it as an essential center in the development of paper art.


Despite the pandemic situation, the exhibition can be viewed every day from10:00h. – 19:00h. starting from the 10th through the 30th June at the semi-basement ‘West’ at the National Palace of Culture. In the same time period and at the same venue, you can visit the paper art exhibition by Krasimira Drenska ‘Ornaments’, situated at the ‘Marble foyer’ of National Palace of Culture, also part of the program of SPAF 2021.
