The exchange project “East-West”
at Gallery Finesee

The last exhibition of this year’s edition of Sofia Paper Art Fest opens on November 10 at 18:00 in Gallery Finesse. The exhibition is on view until December 3, 2022.

After presentinga variety of exhibitions as part of the largest section of the festival – the Paper Art Biennial, East-West focuses on sculpture and installation. At the same time, the exchange project between Bulgaria and Germany will continue in the coming years with travelling formats in both countries.

The selected artists show works in different styles and with diverse messages. The installations and the objects overflow with structures and volumes in the range of black and white. Another artists use the illusion of volume or focus on reliefs, while others prefer amorphous forms in soft, earthy tones. Luminous works become a counterpoint to others that rely on lush color.

The selection represents 17 artists from Bulgaria and Germany: Anna Boyadjieva, Daniela Todorova, Todor Todorov, Snejana Simeonova, Valentin Bakardjiev, Adelina Rakovska, Krasimira Drenska, Tsveta Petrova, Mihail Artamontzev from Bulgaria; and Verena Friedrich, Irene Hoppenberg, Ines Seidel, Ilka Raupach, Lore Galitz, Oksana Bergen, Sofia Nordmann, Ute Krautkremer, Helmut Friedrich from Germany;

With an accompanying programme, East-West aims to raise questions about certain aspects of sculpture and installation outside, even though the particular exhibition presents works suitable for classical gallery space.
