‘Streich’
a sculpture collection
by Todor Todorov
Welcome to the opening of the anniversary exhibition of Todor Todorov this Friday, 19th November 2021 from 19:00h. His latest collection is inspired by stringed instruments section and will be exposed at ‘Raiko Aleksiev’ Art Gallery. The exhibition can be viewed until Saturday – 4th December 2021.
In his latest years Todor Todorov created mainly ‘sound’ interactive works and this lead him to the creation of the ‘Streich’ collection. The collection took three years in the making and reflects the author’s love for music – his daily inspiration and support. The works demonstrate the connection between the musician and the instrument. As the sculptor says: ‘I noticed that a lot of musicians become like their instrument’.
In his long 70-year creative path the sculptor has won over 21 awards and is known primarily for his monumental works around the world. His works have an original approach in small-scale and monumental sculpture. He is the creator of the theory of Elemental sculpture – the relationship between sculpture and nature, published by ‘Altera’ publishing house and Cambridge University Press.
The project is financed with the kind support of the National Culture Fund, JTI (Japan Tobacco International), JBBA (Japanese-Bulgarian Business Association), Takeda and the Union of Bulgarian Artists.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue in limited edition (isbn 978-619-92035-0-7), with texts by Boris Danailov and Chavdar Popov. The photographs are made by Maria Angelova.
The event is part of the official program of Sofia Paper Art Fest 2021
