Sofia Paper Art Fest 2025:
“Paper as Art and Its Paths”
On March 15, the first event from the program of Sofia Paper Art Fest 2025 opens, which this year is held under the motto “Spirit and Matter”. The exhibition “Paper as Art and Its Paths” at Gravura Brazileira Gallery (São Paulo, Brazil) is part of the international program of the festival, which for more than a decade has established itself as a recognizable global forum for innovation in contemporary paper art.
The exhibition is part of the traveling exhibitions of SPAF and is realized in partnership with Atelier “Elora” and Gravura Brazileira Gallery, which is specialized in the presentation of printmaking and paper art. Curators of the exhibition are Daniela Todorova, Eliana Anghinah and Angela Barbour. The selection focuses on works by established and young authors from Bulgaria and Brazil, created through various paper techniques and sending messages towards the spiritual and its place in the contemporary world. A special accent is the selection of small-scale works from the Amateras Collection, including emblematic works by Bulgarian authors with international recognition.

The exhibition emphasizes the significance of paper art as a way of expression in contemporary culture and design. This is another event from the long-term exchange between Bulgaria and Brazil, which began in 2016. Within the exhibition, a talk will be held with presentations by the participating artists about the role of art in the contemporary world and artistic life in recent years in conditions of significant challenges.
Participating in the exhibition are: Angela Barbour, Todor Todorov, Daniela Todorova, Eliana Anghinah, Catharina Suleiman, Cildo Oliveira, Gustavo Dalinha, Lygia Eluf, Sheila Oliveira, Vinicius Barajas and a number of other authors.

Amateras Foundation expresses its special thanks to Eduardo Bessen from Gravura Brazileira Gallery and the curators from Brazil.
The program is realised with the financial support of the Programme “Visual Arts” of the Ministry of Culture and the Cultural Calendar of Sofia Municipality for 2025.
