Japanese Spirit

On October 30, the group exhibition “Japanese Spirit” was opened, presenting the refined aesthetics and innovative approach of contemporary Japanese artists working with paper. Through a delicate balance between tradition and modernity, the selected works explore the spiritual depth, poetic minimalism and philosophical sensitivity characteristic of Japanese culture.

The exhibition is presented at Mazda Gallery as part of Sofia Paper Art Fest 2025 and invites the audience to immerse themselves in a world where light, texture and silence become powerful forms of artistic dialogue. Each work reflects a unique interpretation of the Japanese artistic sensibility – subtle, elegant and deeply human.

“The exhibitions of contemporary paper art at Mazda Gallery have become an established tradition and an essential part of the company’s cultural mission in Bulgaria and Japan,” shares Petar Karaivanov, manager of Star Motors Bulgaria.

The exhibition is dedicated to Expo Osaka 2025 and pays tribute to the long-standing cultural and diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Japan. The event is also part of the celebration of the 36th Days of Japanese Culture in Bulgaria, as well as of 20 years “Together in Art” of Amateras Foundation, as a sign of recognition for all Japanese partners who have contributed to building lasting cultural ties and sustainable cooperation.

Sofia Paper Art Fest 2025 is realized with the financial support of: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria, Embassy of Japan in Bulgaria, Program “Visual Arts” of the Ministry of Culture and Cultural Events Calendar of Sofia Municipality for 2025.
