Mythological Transformations
Bulgaria – Turkey

On September 25, Sofia Paper Art Fest presented the exhibition “Mythological Transformations” – the second event from the Bulgarian-Turkish cultural exchange launched in 2025. After the successful creative residency in Pavlikeni during the summer, the project marks the next step in building a long-term partnership between Bulgaria and Turkey in the field of contemporary art.

The exhibition is realized under the patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Sofia and in close cooperation with the State Institute for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. It is included in the Cultural Calendar of Sofia for 2025, emphasizing cultural diplomacy as a tool for strengthening bilateral relations.

The exhibition features five contemporary female artists from Izmir – Sukran Tumer, Neslihan Cakir, Prof. Dr. Fetiye Erbay, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mutlu Erbay and Benay Durmus, some of whom are lecturers at Ege University. The project carries a strong message of cultural dialogue, mutual respect and sharing of creative experience between the two countries.

Sofia Paper Art Fest 2025 is realized with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Embassy of Turkey in Bulgaria, Program “Visual Arts” and the Cultural Events Calendar of Sofia Municipality for 2025.
