Pavlikeni and the World
residency project
Bulgaria – Turkey

The project “Pavlikeni and the World” presented its fourteenth edition in 2025. Created through the joint efforts of Municipality of Pavlikeni and Amateras Foundation, it has already established a lasting presence in the cultural life of the region and Bulgaria.

This year’s plаin-air brought together artists from Bulgaria and Turkey, once again focusing on ecological paper art, the use of old techniques in a new way with spiritual messages. The event reinforces the trend towards sustainability in art and the creation of works through old techniques, working with materials of natural and recycled origin.

“Pavlikeni and the World” demonstrates great stylistic diversity through the inclusion of textile techniques, graphics, collage, paper art, sculpture and installation.

Curators are Daniela Todorova and Sukran Tumer.

Participants from Bulgaria: Daniela Todorova and Todor Todorov
Participants from Cyprus: Sukran Tumer, Metin Saltik, Selma Kezban Yildiz, Sevil Simsek, Alper Saylan, Berna Aybarturk, Nurgul Saltik.

Over the years, the project “Pavlikeni and the World” has not only expanded international cultural contacts, but has also established Pavlikeni as a key center for contemporary art in Bulgaria. The created collection so far is a unique cultural phenomenon, reflecting global trends in contemporary art.
